How do I begin the counselling process?
It all begins with a free 15-minute phone consultation. All new clients are asked to complete this consultation before booking a first appointment. This call gives you an opportunity to determine whether Sarah feels like a good fit for you, while also allowing Sarah to determine whether your concerns and treatment goals are within her scope of practice and professional competence.

Do I have to make a decision at the end of the call if I would like to work together?
No. While some clients choose to book an appointment at the end of the call, others prefer to take some time to reflect on what was discussed before deciding whether to move forward.
How do I book an appointment?
The first step is to complete the form on the Contact page.Sarah will then contact you by email to arrange a date and time for your free 15-minute phone consultation.
How long are your sessions?
Standard sessions are 50 minutes, and extended sessions are 80 minutes.
Why would someone book an extended session?
Clients most often book an extended session when significant updates have occurred and they would benefit from additional time to explore them in greater depth.Some clients also choose to book an extended session for their first appointment, allowing more time to share their background and discuss their concerns and goals.
Do you meet with clients in person or virtually?
Both. You may choose to meet with Sarah in person at Watermark Counselling Co.'s downtown Vancouver office or virtually from anywhere in British Columbia.
What do I need to have a virtual counselling appointment?
A private space where you feel comfortable speaking openly without being overheardA laptop, tablet, or smartphone with a camera and microphoneA stable internet connection
How many sessions will I need, and how often will we meet?
The length of your counselling experience will depend on the concerns you hope to address and your treatment goals.While some clients find that a few sessions are sufficient to address their concerns, others are interested in longer-term counselling support that evolves as their needs and goals change over time.At the beginning of counselling, appointments are often more frequent. As progress is made, sessions typically become less frequent. Together, you and Sarah will determine a schedule that best supports your goals.
How much do your sessions cost?
50-minute session: $17580-minute session: $280
How do I pay for my session?
Payments are processed securely through Jane, the online booking system. All major credit cards are accepted.
What is your cancellation policy?
24 hours' notice is required for any cancellations or changes to your appointment. Clients who provide less than 24 hours' notice, or who miss their appointment, will be charged the full session fee.That said, emergencies do happen. If extenuating circumstances arise, please email Sarah to discuss your situation.
Do you offer reduced-rate counselling?
Sarah is committed to offering a limited number of sliding-scale spots to help make counselling more accessible. At this time, all sliding-scale spots are full. If cost is a barrier, the Affordable Therapy Network may be a helpful resource for finding therapists who offer reduced-rate counselling.
